Regardless of whether it was right or wrong to invade Iraq, I feel that with the invasion and current occupation it has allowed us to gauge where our military is currently at. This allows us to make the much needed upgrades that our military has been lacking for years after the Clinton administration slashed military budgets. This will allow us to fix our weaknesses before a new larger threat develops that we may have not been able to handle with our current military.
