I found them to be generous, happy-go-lucky, and very kind. They enjoyed music - I went to lots of their parties and C&W dance evenings and they never seemed to be spiteful or envious of other people.

Yes, several were a bit overweight, but so what? I would have been if I had the opportunity to eat the lovely food they provided at their barbeques every day. *nods

My general impression was that they were HONEST people, and there are not many countries where the majority you meet give that impression.

(I have lived in Germany and South Africa too).
I've never got why people tend to view foreigners as stereotypes. I generally judge others by how they act, not what stereotype they are supposed to fit in...

Take UKers for example...I've been told to think that all people from the UK are arrogant, prim/proper, unemotional, cold, etc....Yet I've personally never met one like that in real life, and only one like that on-line. And I think the on-line individual actually goes out of his way to act the stereotype just as a harrassement technique then his actual off-line self...

Outside of that one example, every UKer I've met has been warm, caring, generous, and great sense of humor and enjoyment of living. People I'd more then likely be friends off-line and consider family as well as on-line.

Sure there's snobs and the like on-line. But I really don't believe it has anything to do with what country they come from, but just bad personalities all around.
