By that token, then why do we condemn the Tuskegee experiments, were they not based upon the same logic, or the experiments done by the Nazis to the Jews or the Soviets to the prisoners in the Gulag?? | Well, I think Bush set the bar when he made it an active and central part in his administration's policies to kill "terrorists" so that other people may live. You know, fight them there so we don't fight them here.
And the analogy is completely false. Those were experiments being conducted on live human beings...stem cell research is research being conducted using goo with no body, no thoughts, no conscious, and no "life" to take away in the first place. And doing such experiments can ultimately save countless lives of real people. Quote: |
I am all for finding cures, however, within the debate of stem cell research, so much emphasis is placed on embryonic cells, yet their is just as much research regarding human stem cells actually bearing results.
| Little. Embryonic stem cells, as always, promise the best research material, results and the quickest ones. Limiting the research is almost like deciding to study space and planetary systems with binoculars instead of telescopes. Quote: |
As I initially said, there is a counter proposal in Congress to provide for a repository of stem cells, cells from placentas, embryos that have died in vivo, and that makes room for individuals who use in vitro fertilization to have the unused eggs used for scientific study.....
| Yes, those should be used too. Quote:
Again, politics is sometimes compromise. If the government were truly desiring to make this a reality, why would the Congress not jump on a compromise bill that will obtain the desired outcomes.....
When Reagan was elected he desired a 30% tax cut to be implemented over thre years, known as the 10-10-10, he settled for the 25%, known as the 5-10-10. This Congress is not looking for solutions, instead it places politics over accomplishments. That is why the Democrats are touting their success in the first 100 days, despite the fact that no major bill they have passed has become law.

| They don't have a compromise. Bush is prepared to veto any bill that would provide federal funding to any kind of stem cell research. "If you want to achieve peace of mind and happiness, then have faith; if you want to be a disciple of truth, then search" -- Friedrich Nietzsche
