He did pass away but I feel guns should be in the hands of those who take care of them and use them for sport or food. I don't know how we can control this but if guns were taken away from my Uncle when he was alive, It would be like having your brother or sister murdered. To some people it's their pleasure and way of life. To take that away from them would be too stressful if it's been a part of their life for some time.

I completely agree with you on this (check my original post in this thread). While I personally wouldn't mind guns being completely banned I don't think that is realistic in this country or even completely necessary.
Hunters should be allowed to own riffles under strict laws, meaning they actually have to be a licensed hunter with knowledge of firearms to own one. It is a way of life, a tradition and one that should be preserved.
Handguns are the problem for violence in cities and suburban areas. A great compromise would be to completely ban handguns and start working on getting them off the street. With the amount of handguns there are in America it would take a great deal of time but I think the results would be well worth it. This would also allow us to ban military grade weapons (like an M-16 or what have you), cause you know damn well you don't need one of those to shoot a deer.  |
