Aside from addiction however, many drugs have adverse side affects, as well as harmful interactions with other drugs, including things a lot of people wouldn't consider, such as aspirin, alcohol, even beer, caffeine and even sunlight.
The best thing to do when getting a new prescription is to check the drug interactivity and side effects, which can be done online.
I switched to Aleve (Noproxen) to take care of the pain in my legs, and the pain went away eventually. My sister, for a period of time, took Xanax. She was always in pain, because of work injuries on her back and legs.

I don't know if she is taking it anymore. She had pain surgery a couple of weeks ago, and that has been some improvement in her comfort. If she is not taking Xanax anymore, good for her.

I also learned that one of the other side effects of Oxycontin was people might get bent over (constipated). I don't need that junk, and the medicine should really be pulled and never prescribed or used.
