That is a great stat/chart. The point is we could have easily bumped that up to 30 cents federal tax back in the 90's and been just fine. Countries in Europe are still paying closer to 4-6 dollars a gallon and have been for a while. We are spoiled rotten... we could be using taxes on gasoline to pay for many crucially needed social programs.
