I know I for one am in no real rush to get married. From my perspective the only benefit to a marriage is extra pay (the military pays married folks more). But then there is the risk of losing half of everything should it not work out.

So here's my question, if you are in a committed relationship, and happy, why marry?
That is a valid point. Why complicate matters. However, for me it would give me peace of mind and strengthen the relationship.

Plus, your spouse is entitled to social security survivor benefits that will help her in the event of your death. There are tax advantages too.
