Regarding the health care aspect of this article, I agree, for the most part. However, I think it's very close to the idea of universal health care, and someone who does not support universal healthcare may be displeased with this solution.

As for social security, my primary gripe with the idea of privatizing social security stems from the fact that wealthy people would get more out of it than poor people, and if someone did not work throughout his life, he would not be able to use these individual retirement accounts.

I would rather see the government create equally-sized individual retirement accounts for all citizens, instead of taking a portion of each individual's paycheck for only that person's own retirement account.

Though really, I'm not certain our current system of social security is all that bad. Obviously we wouldn't have this problem if we'd saved up excess social security money gathered in past years, instead of spending it, however even now, I think we should be able to accomodate it if we're willing to cut taxes in other areas or go further in debt (which would require paying off our currently-enourmous debt).
