It's baffling to think the nuclear industry and the global food industry would ever be linked. But they are.
Right now, food treated with ionizing radiation must be labeled as "Treated with irradiation" or "Treated by radiation." But according to Food and Water Watch, the irradiation industry wants to misleadingly label these foods as "electronically pasteurized" or "cold pasteurized.”
Many serious health problems have been observed in lab animals fed irradiated foods, including premature death, cancer, tumors, stillbirths, mutations, organ damage, immune system failure and stunted growth.
