Not really and no. On one hand - I live in a very diverse part of the country now (Atlanta) and I don't have any Swedish friends or family who live here. Furthermore - some people (from my experience, anyway) tend to view Swedes as some exclusive white race or something (you know - blond haired, blue eyed people), but everyone in my family has brown hair and brown eyes. . .

On the other hand, I am proud of my Swedish heritage, and wouldn't trade it for the world. . .

Anyway, we all have our own heritages and are proud of them, so I don't view mine as being any better or worse than anybody else's.

As far as traveling to the country of Sweden - I have never been there (would very much like to, though; I will probably take a long extended trip over there some time after I leave college). I've been to New Sweden, Maine several times, however. . . Someday I hope to go back there and get back in touch with my roots (may even retire there, who knows).
