"Rebuilt"? "Regained strength"?

Are we living in 1984 now?

Because now that the government says it, it must be true. As if, because they weren't talking about it before, Al-Qaeda was somehow destroyed or weakened, and now that Big Brother is talking about it...they must have "rebuilt."

Freaking CNN. Al-Qaeda has been growing ever since 9/11 and the American retaliations (especially the Iraq War). It hasn't seen a 'lapse' in size or organization at all. There's no "rebuilding" at all.
