What they did say is that his suicide notes indicated that he was "mad at the government."
Being anti-war is not the only reason that someone might be angry with the government.
That statement of motive came from the shooter's family. The official position is even less enlightening. Quote:

Maybe the author of this little op-ed knows something that the real reporters have missed.
But I doubt it. Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.
