Boing Boing: 1952 comic predicts Bush/Cheney Iran policy
Makes sense to me.
There is perfect symmetry here, since the administration itself seems to BE a 1950s comic book.
  • Everything and everyone connected with the administration is larger than life, but two-dimensional. No fully developed characters. Only archetypes.
  • This administration's war strategy has proven paper-thin, with plot holes that only children cannot see. And there is no end in sight. An ending means no more issues for sale.
  • Bush speaks in near-onomatopoetic soundbites. "Shock and awe." "Lessons of 9/11." "Cut and run." If he says anything longer than what would fit in a word balloon (or his teleprompter goes down), he trips up, stammering all over himself.
  • Cheney actually LOOKS like a supervillain. He already has the sneer and condescending tone down cold. All he is missing is a high-collared black cape, and a twirlable handlebar mustache.
