A signifigant number of those sent to Veitnam were draftees too. And even then, our causilty rates were miniscule compared to the enemy. During the time we lost 50,000 -- they lost close to a million -- if memory serves me right.
Americans haven't had to face an enemy on anything resembling even terms since we fought the Germans in WWII.
