 Since there have been MYRIAD court cases that are caused because CIVIL UNIONS AND DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIPS are not given the same rights as MARRIAGES are given, I would say the difference was quite dramatic.
Even in NJ and CT, where the laws SPECIFICALLY state that civil unions are to be treated as marriages, there are STILL lawsuits filed regularly because there are people who won't recognize them as such.
Marriages between consenting adults should be legal, period. And everybody will have equal rights to the benefits and responsibilities inherent in the legally binding contract. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
