I think that what Schlessinger stated WAS truly bigoted. PEOPLE WHO STAND IN THE WAY OF EQUAL RIGHTS FOR A MINORITY ARE BIGOTED. That is bigoted by very definition.


She wasn't talking about equal rights. As I recall, the thing that set everybody off was when she stated homosexaulity is a biological error. And everybody started sceaming, "she called people biological errors." That's NOT what she said.

I'm nearsighted. That's a biologial error. I did not just call myself a "biological error."

I happen to think homosexuality is a handicap. I've cleary stated as much on these boards before. But why in the dickens would I want to "stand in the way" of equal rights for handicapped people?

I think she was "standing in the way" of homosexuaility as a condition never, ever being questioned by anybody ever again. Which is what SOME of the gay rights movement wants, IMO. It goes past wanting to be treated fairly.. .it's about wanting to be above criticism, questioning and beyond reproach.
