A few years ago my great aunt was in a coma. Two neurologists looked at her brain scans and told my family to make funeral arrangements as she could be expected to live no more than a few more days.
My mother and her cousins called the funeral home, the church, the preacher, made arrangements for transport of the body to our hometown so Aunt Edna could lie next to her parents and her late husband.
The next day as a group of nephews and nieces waited outside her room to say goodbye, my aunt sat up and asked for water.
Eight years later we got to complete that funeral. Sometimes good shit happens.
