At least the english in Queens was not as mangled as it is in the Bronx or Brooklyn.
As for Zee or Zed, I was forced into accepting the Zee way. My American teachers were very ignorant about Zed. I was not rebellious enough in school to start a fight about the proper pronounciation of Z. |
My daughter's first day in an American school, aged 9, she asked the teacher for a rubber, or an eraser in American parlance.
The teacher was quite taken aback.
I find most Americans don't have much knowledge of what happens outside their country. Often I am mistaken for an Australian although the accent is very different. Doggone it darn right you betcha bless your heart maverick |
