When something effects you personally, you lose the ability to just 'imagine' what it might be like. You have to deal with the REALITY of what it is like. You can't play 'let's pretend'.
I have two children that I love to distraction. I had a very restricted pregnancy and almost lost the first at birth, and almost lost both of us with the second. If I had it to do all over again, would I? HELL YES! But that doesn't mean that I have to pretend that it was all balloons and cotton candy.
You may find our 'cynicism', which BTW, is actually a realistic view, depressing, but I must tell you....WE find your innocence and naiveness laughable. And consider, we have experience in our corner. You don't.
It's like us telling you that getting kicked in the balls is no big deal.
