At my kids' school, they have a Holiday Sing, where the songs aren't religious, but celebrate winter. The kids dress up for halloween and have a costume parade on the playground. They exchange valentines. Spring break is not about Easter, but about baby chicks and the life cycles of plants and such.
Basically, it is religion-neutral in that it neither promotes nor downplays anyone's religion. Given the number of religious folks around here, I'm surprised in some ways that they don't try to inject more jesus stuff into the school, but they've struck a fair balance, in my opinion. | Of course trying to ignore Christmas at Christmas time and Easter at Easter time downplays Christianity!!
