I don't expect society to stop.. or even slow down.. for my observation of that. I continue about my routine... nearly all my co-workers have known nothing about it.
Again, I realize I live in a culture where the vast, vast majority are Christian.
I don't expect them to quit celebrating their holidays for me, nor do I expect them to change to accomodate my religious beliefs and practices.
And I'd feel the same way if I were in a culture that was predominantly Jew, or Buddhist, or Muslim.. or even Wiccan.
It's ignorant and selfish to expect the Romans to quit being Romans simply because you're in Rome, IMO. | ================================================== ====
Let's make a distinction between what goes on in the public schools and what goes on at work.
You might be totally comfortable hanging out with your Christian coworkers and attending the company Christmas party, but that doesn't mean that captive schoolchildren should be taught religious doctrine. |
