Speaking of Aaron, did you know that when he was set to pass Babe Ruth's record; not only was he receiving death threats, there was a fledgling movement started to not recognize this achievment because Ruth played in a league that at the time did not recognize Blacks? I forget the name of this movement; I'd have to look it up. I know it was reported back then in my local (at the time) papers.
1) Comparing racial issues in baseball with illegal substances is total crap.
Bonds now plays in a league where Blacks are embraced for their contribution to the game.
Aaron played in a league where Blacks were looked down upon and not considered equal. A time of age that people feared what they didnt understand.(Which sadly still happens today)
2) There will always be an * next to Bonds, maybe not in the MLB HoF when Bonds is put in. But in each and every fan and listener of baseball...and those are the people who truely count. Its only a * and not an X because there is no SOLID proof against Bonds because the doc shoved a gag ball down his own throat and wont admit to the allegations. Once the proof surfaces the * will become an X.
