Instead of the water coming out the canyon wall it comes up under water level. The water comes up very close in two streams, it has white sand and creates the formation of a heart that is blue in appearance. Icey cold but a great place to swim when it is very hot. Those funny little snails live there.

If you get back there in the summer and know a friend w/ a boat you can also float the island. If you stood at Sportmans Resort and look across the river to see the water falls. That largest one in the center flows both ways behind the island. You can take a boat up the stream behind the island on the NW side. Walk under the bridge with intertubes, go three hundred feet or so and you be in water running the opposite direction. Have your boat buddy pick you up at the other end of the island (they can be fishing while you take the scenic route) or paddle across to get back to the HWY at Sportsmans or down by the bridge on 30. Nice trip. If you get there in the right season you'll see the Carp spawning. The females get up to 4'. Hugh fish and fascinating to watch.

Rod, thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind. I've got a big alumicraft cargo canoe I used to take all over different stretches of the river in the canyon. Most people don't know it, but there's awesome deer hunting down there in many spots, so I used to use my canoe for deer hunting quite a bit.

One of my favorite floats was starting at Scotts Pond (don't know if you know where that is) and taking out at Niagra Springs.
