Dan Rather was fired and villified for going forward with a story that was unsubstantiated. Why do Sharpton and Jackson get a free pass?
The true difference is that Dan Rather was an experienced journalist; and therefore knowledgeable that he should have verified his story beforehand. All these two did was feign anger at the Tawana Brawley fiasco; with Sharpton milking it for all he could. He still is.
