Now here we are back to the American's other problem- We can't decide how best to implement our laws; thereby making them close to useless. In this scenario; we have the government requiring action to correct "no-match Social Security numbers by employers. I don't have a problem with that. This action does not need to be immediate termination; if the employer and employee has documentation to show that he has been made aware of the problem and are working to correct this problem. I would probably just add that an employer should not even hire a prospective employee if there is a problem in this area. Unfortunately, these hopefuls would have to receive the "we'll keep your application or resume on file" treatment.
Cruel? maybe. but this is where cracking down on illegal immigrant employment has to start. Why is it so hard to accept this? Is it because employers want to have prospective employees start work before verification? This was posed to me in a discussion as a source of discontent. What should we do? Verification Centers ? Possibly. The establishment of such could cut down mean time on such problems. What do you think? |
