We are all working with the written word, without the benefit of voice modulation or body language. Nobody knows who is yelling or whispering!
Large text is just another technique used to create emphasis, no different from emboldening, underlining or colours. | And what do you do when you want to emphasize something radically in the spoken language? You yell.
It's just interpreted as 'yelling' or the equivalence of yelling when very large bold text is used because it primarily does the same thing; that is, it emphasizes radically, and it creates a lot of unnecessary 'pollution' (yelling makes noise, and large over-sized capitalized letters takes up space). To be offended by large letters smacks of on over-eagerness to appear a victim.
| I'm not offended. I'm used to it by now. I was just pointing out that it was a cheap and uncivil tactic. "If you want to achieve peace of mind and happiness, then have faith; if you want to be a disciple of truth, then search" -- Friedrich Nietzsche
