Globalization is not a bad thing, coberst. It is simply the connection we are all to recognize and realize in our own lives, as dependent on and supporting one another, across the whole wide world. What people get upset about and begin to evaluate from the sphere of morals or ethics is how this intercourse might impact political entities, economic bases and cultural foundations. Personally I believe that there is a way to demonstrate the heart of globalization without forfeiting our nationality, our individuality. We already do that on a small scale here in the United States. We have diverse people groups and yet we do, by some sacrifices and some compromises and yet also with a heart to hang on to our own traditions, culture and social values, experience a convergence of all to make up the fabric of our nation. And yes, some by taxation do offer up helps to the less fortunate ...but all are better off for that impacts the nation as a whole with better educated, healthier and more productive people. Imagine with a spirit of humanitarian focus, the whole world could benefit by a willingness, by a surrender, and also by a maintaining of pride in one's own identity. And together we could better serve each other and learn of one another, all the while celebrating the truth that unity is not found in sameness but in honoring differences. OhDear |
