hahahahaha.. well thanks for your concern guys.. truly appreciated.. but no need to worry.. i'm not in any danger here. But let me give you guys a low-down on the situation.
The imposition of emergency was NOT a surprise.. in fact even i was shocked at the non-chalance exhibited by most people about it. The fact is that the circle within which i move in pakistan really likes musharraf. My way of life is less threatened by Musharraf than it is by anybody else.
The simple fact is that we have crappy alternatives. Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif are both failed ex-prime ministers with mile long charges of corruption, embezzlement, nepotism, intimidation and exploitation behind them. Neither will do Pakistan any good.
Our chief justice is also corrupt. Of course this is hardly anything for other politicians or lawmakers to get outraged about since they are all just as guilty of like transgressions.
It is true that Musharraf has more or less shut down the electronic news media. THis is of grave concern since the media was the one factor that was actually helping build some sort of political consciousness in pakistan.
I honestly can't tell where we are going right now, but personally i'm not worried. Even the strictest type of military rule that musharraf may bring with him, will be more likely to work out for the country than an assortment of crooked politicians.
But then again i'm a musharraffite... his era has been the best i have seen in this country Love for all, Hatred for none |
