I'm all for examination of basic assumptions, but let's not confuse that with having a basic assumption that to a limited degree all systems of perceptions ('containers') are of equal worth in consideration. As that I think would mean opening your mind too much as to have your brain fall out.
And, perhaps such confines are a good thing in many instances correspondingly to the goal of truth. My philosophical inquiry isn't necessarily to provide a freedom but to come to higher forms of truth. Concurrently, the basic assumptions of science has been the last real arbiter of truth. I think you can take a scientific approach to philosophy, turning 'philosophy' more into a verb. There may be a basic assumption that through a scientific method you can deduce reality, but there is also the basic practice of a constant examination for evidence and Socratic inquiry.
