I think the debate format is very unsatisfactory for candidates of both parties.

It's all about entertainment rather than an intelligent debate of the issues.

Trying to answer complex questions in thirty seconds is ludicrous.

And the so-called "top tier" candidates get 90% of the time, whilst the others stand around shuffling their feet!

The only objective of this format seems to be who "won" or rather who got tripped up. Mistakes are the only outcome that are remembered or become headlines.

I think it would be far better to have more in-depth discussions with 2-3 candidates at a time in a "Meet The Press" setting. Give the candidates chance to express their positions and debate them with their competitors.

Surely the American people are mature enough to handle that??
