And that "law-abiding" is the part I have issues with. "Law" should be based on something more concrete than "what we want". And by calling the gay union "marriage" implies that our society doesn't know the difference between a gay union and the species intended hetro one. If we can stop prostitution, incest, and killing some species of pets for food, we can surely deem "marriage" as a union between a man and woman.
