I see how, in your delusion, you seem to somehow 'rationalize' the current conditions of our vets as the fault of liberalism, when in actuality the deterioration of our veterans is happening in the light of 'compassionate conservatism', while the liberals are the ones objecting. | When I served, I met many of Vietnam vets who were still in the Army finishing out their 20 years. Were they all liars????
Someone mentioned the homeless veterans, having known a few thanks to the VA, I have had the opportunity to hear their stories. The mention was meant to disparage the Bush Administration, well I turned the attack around and pointed a finger at one of the true causes. What caused these individuals to end up where they are, I always love to hear liberals talk about root causes, well this is one we never hear them talk about, I guess they hate the fact that the finger would lead right back to themselves.
When one addresses the issues one must be fair. I agree that the administration has done a terrible job with its treatment of vets, but this has been the case for several years, many of the problems can trace back to the 1970's. The deterioration began long ago, and continues under this adminstration, no different than under the last administration, or for that matter under Carter's or Reagan's of the first Bush.
dmk Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles -Russell Kirk- |
