As far as our friend Al, I just do not like his jumping into situations of which he has no clear understanding of; while trying to represent (as he says) the Blacks in America. Tawana Brawley and the Duke lacrosse players are the prime examples of this opportunism of his thinking.
The Don Imus fiasco was one of several causes. I agree that Al was the least of these causes. Don Imus was guilty of one thing; and that was allowing (agreeing) to precipitate such a racial issue simply because of his employers wishes to do so for the ratings. In that, he was not smart. I really didn't think he needed to apologize for anything except this foolish choice he made. Hopefully, he has learned his lesson. But while people wanted him to publicly apologize; (as well as Sharpton) I've still not heard of any apologies from the management and ownership of the media outlets that put him up to it. |
