lie • noun an intentionally false statement AskOxford: lie2
not just incorrect but "Intentionally false"
If you believe something to be true then you are not telling a lie when you say so, even if your statement is not or cannot be proven.
You believe that one day you will be a Professor. You cannot prove it, but you aren't lying.
However, if I said that one day I'll be a Professor I would be lying, because I know that statement is intentionally false. Doggone it darn right you betcha bless your heart maverick |
