Even CNN's account of oversimplification oversimplifies. They ignore the fact that MLK was also very critical of capitalism and was a democratic socialist. He also advocated, using rather Marxist philosophy (unpaid labor to the worker), reparations toward African-Americans. I fully agree with him on those issues; but they are definitely not the mainstream, and I think had he not been assassinated he would probably be getting singled out and ridiculed as a radical along with Jessee Jackson and Al Sharpton.
