Firstly, I don't know what a "teacher of a childs teacher" is. Please clarify.
Secondly, the subject of discussion is a comedian who is addressing adults, and making jokes not directed at any one person, not a freak who is sadisticly emotionally abusing a child. It is inappropriate for a teacher to use profanity in a classroom , it is not inappropriate for a comedian to use profanity in his act, this is where the two situations differ. Please attempt to make a less ridiculous hypothetical in the future, comparing the two things does not help your case.
Secondly , there was no "hatred" intended. It was a black guy using a word that the vast majority of black people still use, at least the ones who havent been castrated by political correctness yet. This wasn't even remotely related to hate speech.
Why isn't it ok to hate? You can hate everyone on this planet if you want to, and still never do anything to harm another human being. Benign ideological hate does not inevitabelly lead to a violent act. I will take a black supremecist who mind's his own business over a crackhead who has no qualms about stabbing anyone regardless of race to get his next fix. But what you mean by it isn't ok to hate , you of course mean it isn't ok to hate the "oppressed" people of the world. it is still perfectly acceptable to hate republicans, southerners, christians, and white supremacists.
Anyone can think anything they want about me , anyone can hate me for whatever reason they want, and anyone can say basically anything they want to me all because of free speech. As long as they don't cross the line into a physical confrontation that is their right as an American. At what point did it become more unnaceptable to think/believe the wrong things than it is to actually commit negative actions(as long as they aren't racially motivated)?
Anyone should be able to say anything that they want in the proper forum. We are quickly on the way to the kind of "thought crime" legislation that has destroyed freedom of speech in Europe.
In short, in my opinion .....
hateful thoughts/words = acceptable violent actions=unnaceptable. |
