It's so easy for us to sit back and say 'We saved your asses' when we never saw the war. Britons did, thousands were killed, lost everything to the bombs, and still they stayed strong. If they hadn't been a bulwark against the Nazis, I think we would have seen a lot more action on our shores.
FWIW | I agree. I'm just glad I wasn't around in those days, but my parents were and their stories are pretty sobering. It makes any problems we have today fade into insignificance.
I just wonder if the Brits (or the Americans) would have the same grit and fortitude if they were faced with a similar threat today. Doggone it darn right you betcha bless your heart maverick |
