Again some parents take the lackadaisical attitude that " kids are going to do wrong things anyway, so why worry, just let them get on with it".

What happened to the doctrine of self-discipline and personal responsibility?

Well brought-up children will pay a lot more attention to what their parents say and the example parents set, than these women seem to realise.
