I would say that Clinton's crime was not really a crime, because his testimony in the Paula Jones civil suit about Monica was immaterial to the Jones suit, and therefore is not considered to be perjury. But not enough Americans understand the law and how it works, so they just think he committed perjury and that that was a crime. They are mistaken. However, Spitzer's use of a prostitute is a crime from the start. Clinton lied to cover up an affair, and was led by Ann Coulter and other right wing cronies and lawyers, into a carefully laid trap of perjuring himself in his deposition.
