They went in for "abuse" of a 16 year old.
And 13 is fine by some states with parental consent. If there are any "forced" marriages, we'll see. 14 was the law in Texas until 2005 with an eye toward the FLDS. Texas Legislature passed laws in 2005 to tighten screws on FLDS.
I realize it is a blog, but there is a link there to the actual changes in the laws. Quote: |
We are free to believe in God in whatever way we choose, but we are not free in this country to abuse children. FX, you need to get your facts straight. I see with some people it's okay to abuse children as long as it is done in the name of God, but an abortion of a first trimester embryo is the worst thing a person can do. Wow. It really does come down to people still wishing to control women. That is what it all comes down to.
| Naa, it's not abuse if the women are there willingly, and I have yet to hear a report of ANYONE wanti ng to leave the ranch after the raid. Those poor abused women have the freedom to leave now, and of all the women in the news, it seems that hasn't happened. If this is the life that this closed community chooses to live, I have no problem with it. They are not parading it in front of people and they have built their own self sufficient community, and aren't bothering any one. That's a LONG way to go just to control a few stinking women. In fact, if the only complaint is legally contrived "abuse", "abuse" that was made "abuse" with an eye toward them, this looks more like persecution to me.
Abortion is killing. This is my new signature. |
