Capital punishment is simply the method whereby society sweeps the problems of it's own making under the carpet.

People commit crimes because of the way society is run, rather than in spite of the way society is run. By that I mean society, whether US or European or anywhere else, is rotten to the core. Those in power want to stay in power and imprisonment and/or capital punishment for those who break their rules is one of the means by which the powerful maintain their position.

Under those circumstances, how can one possibly support capital punishment?
