The "medical community" has voted homosexuality "normal". A behavior issue such as homosexuality wouldn't be listed as a birth defect since it's not diagnosable at birth. But if a person is born homosexual, and many people say they are, it is a defect at birth and therefore a birth defect.

That's my liberal use of a term. Which it turns out ain't that liberal.
