Try going to Blountsville, AL. Or Pinson, AL. Or Remlap, AL. Or Hoover, AL. Or Decatur, AL.
You go to Tuscaloosa, and you might find a herd of elephants stampeding over you. Or you go to Auburn and you will find a fierce rivalry from the people of Tuscaloosa.
Go to Huntsville and you will see the astronauts train at the Marshall Space Flight Center there. Or go to Mobile and visit the convention center where I bowled 14 years ago. Also see the Gulf of Mexico there.
But there is one thing I like about Birmingham: it has one of the world's best medical schools, and the Vulcan Statue. Ain't no ham like Birmingham.
And oh yes: you will find Waffle Houses and Cracker Barrel restaurants there, too. | I just knew that post would wind up describing a meal you had decades ago |
