Your legislative standard that anything is ok providing it doesn't cause the sky to fall, is rather childish and utterly impractical.

The fact is that easing divorce laws has cost "society" trillions of dollars and caused untold misery to billions of children, and adults.

For many of those people the sky already did fall.
