It seems the mood of the nation is to want "stuff" from the government and not to have the government have less control over our lives.
I think much of the thinking patterns across America is dominated by television and other public media forums. We are being brainwashed by repeated statements of a point of view in subtle and non-subtle means. We are busy doing our thing of living and don't have time to search out the truth. The larger government gets the harder we work and the less time we have to reason since we are freed of the responsibility for those actions we delegated to the government.
Consider this, compassion is the basis of all law, the do unto others as you would have them do unto you thing. Where is compassion best, in the family, then the church and then the community. The distance away from the family the less the result in a positive way. If this were not true we would assign all responsibility for compassion to the United Nations and they would distribute compassion correctly across the globe. The reality is the larger the government the less it returns for the buck. You need to be able to reach out and touch someone living on your dime so the best government is that that is close to the family. Leave the federal government to maintain immigration and national defense and do everything else in the neighborhood where you can reach out and touch someone not doing a good job on your dime.
If you go to Washington DC and look at the Department of Education you will instantly realize the problem with education in America. If you walked into every office of the department and said hi to each employee making over fifty grand a year you would not meet all the employees in your lifetime. Take away all of those jobs, buildings and the costs associated with that office and send the money to the community where kids are being taught and we would not have an education problem.
Why do we need federal offices to do things that we can do in our communities? We can elect a single person in the Federal government to chair the Department of Education and then each community can send one representative to Washington on summer break to discuss how to better improve education and develop continuity. We don't need a federal office with miles of hallways filled with high paid government employees to do what they do which is fail to teach one child.
We need to learn to say NO more government outside of our reach. If you can't visit the thief within a half hours drive you don't need him or her. |
