Of course, some kids are dealing with mental states for which no amount of proper "parenting" can resolve. I know of a 12-year-old girl who has been dealing with depression, and a few weeks ago made suicide threats that resulted in her being hospitalized for her own safety. She says she is hearing voices that are telling her to kill herself. Her parents were given a prescription for a drug treatment, and the parents plan to fill it.
