The "slippery slope" concept is hardly a right-wing one. | It's political bullpap no matter which side uses it, and it USUALLY doesn't have much solid basis in reality. But I will say that it's more feasible when talking about taking away rights than when giving them.
In other words, no sane person would believe that if gay marriage was allowed, that it would magically open the door to all kinds of fringe "marriages", but it is feasible to see that if you make one form of abortion illegal, that it could lead to people trying to do away with it completely.
But I still see the tactic for what it is, and that is pure political maneuvering, on either issue. |
