It's a stupid notion anyway.

We spend quite a bit of time in France - and travel often to other E.U. countries.

They all drive there as well...do they think the traffic problems in Paris are because there are too many BICYCLES on the roads?!

The difference, is that everything is CLOSE. Here, in the U.S., people often drive an hour commute to work ... they won't be able to work there any more if they can't drive.
