yes, they should, but religion plays a role in politics. a big one, the republican party especially. separation of church and state deals more with schools, and posting the 10 commandments in government buildings.

i'm religious and i'm all for separation of church and state. i think nebraskaboy is too. it's not all "religious fok," obviously some of us get that. i think you're right though, too often religious people try to bypass the separation of church and state, with good intentions of course, but bypass it nonetheless in their strive for the salvation of souls.

The people who are the problem are the ones that don't even realize that the concept of a soul itself is up to debate.
