Flat out lie. He was informed to the contrary and the lie was caught on tape. | No. He was told that Lake Ponchitrane might spill over the top of levee, not that they would fail. And the tape shows Max Mayfield saying nobody knows exactly what would happen- which is what Bush said. Because the levees were not designed to protect from a direct hit from a Category 5, and Katrina did not directly strike New Orleans, and that had been forecast when Bush received the briefing. |
